Select Subject in Photoshop CC 2018
In the latest version of Photoshop a new tool was added to the tool belt. “Select Subject” is Adobe’s new Sensei AI that will do one click selections of prominent subjects in your document.
There are 3 ways to access this powerful new tool (if there are more please leave us a comment).
1 – Clicking Select in the top menu and then Subject
2 – While you have the Quick Selection tool or the Magic “Tragic” Wand tool active it is in the options bar.
3 – It will be in the options bar when you are in the Select and Mask workspace.
As you can see in this test image it selects the women with impressive accuracy. With a little touch up you have a really nice selection in a minimal amount of time.
In my testing when I have documents with multiple prominent images it can sometimes produce poor results. That being said it will be a time saver for people that need to extract subjects from backgrounds and is another nice tool to have in your aresenal. Will be intersting to watch this technology evolve over time.
