Super Contra was released in January of 1988 by the great Konami publishing house. Konami was on fire at the time with Castlevania, Gradius, and many others. Contra was no exception. It is the sequel to Contra a great game in its own right.

This movie features Stage 8. This is it, Red Falcon’s Palace. The stage has pretty tough spots and jumps to make. I found going slow and taking out the aliens slowly for the first part of the level helped me get through it. After making you way around the crazy jumps and the spikes that follow. Getting the spread shot or the flamethrower is critical to saving the life counter. After clearing this area you come into a corridor where the ceiling will come down on you while you have to shoot/dodge/make jumps. It can be difficult without the proper power ups. After getting here you face Red Falcon. He is actually not that tough as you can get into a spot right in front of him that gives you the perfect angle to take him out. After he goes down you have beat the game and are done with Super C!!

Mini Review
I still love this game. It was a classic of my youth. I really enjoyed the Konami games of this time period. It is certainly worth a play through if you like the run and gun style of play. Was a nice edition to the NES Classic. Wish the original was on the console as well.
